5 Tips for Teething

Starting as early as 3 months our little babes start to teeth. Jenna has almost a full smile and Jacob is only starting out. Before Jenna I did not realize how many products were out there to support this process and how consuming it could be especially when it’s causing your little one pain and resulting them in being fussy and inconsolable at times.

Every baby takes to teething remedies differently, I have chatted with my sisters and have come up with a pretty good list of suggestions you can use for your little one!

  1. Bibs for drool, I started putting on bibs for the kids at around 4 months, that is when the drool monsters really came out. – Here is a link to my favorite bibs:  For Girls   For boys
  2. Teethers! We have tried so many between our four kids, here are our top 5 favorite that is sure to please your babe:
  3. Placing the teethers or a wet washcloth in the fridge
  4. Using foods for teethers ( ie: raw carrot sticks, cucumber sticks)
  5. Rubbing the babies gums, this helps release the tension in the gums

There are many more remedies that have been tried and true by other mothers and its always encouraged to try what works for you, the above are ones we use in our family.

Let me know which one worked best for you and if you have any remedies of your own.

Sleep Training

Even though this is not my first Rodeo, I still find myself learning new things in ways I handle my children. With Jenna we didn’t think much of sleep training, she was generally a very good sleeper and we just went with the flow. With Jacob, possibly because I now have WAY LESS spare time, I crave more of a schedule and predictability.

I did seek out some support with Jenna but really dove into SLEEP TRAINING this time around. And I have to say my saving grace has been the Precious Little Sleep community. With the Facebook Page containing thousands of supportive parents who are going through a similar ordeal, to her blog post and podcasts Aleix Dubief and her insight on sleep training has been a blessing!

I even got the book to ensure I did not miss a piece of information that would allow us all to be better rested! I do believe that children crave consistency and being able to provide that to them allows us to all have a hectic free day following the schedules we have carved out for their sleep routines. This also allows us to plan our personal time around their sleeping! Now I have to admit no matter what, each time a child grows older or learns a new skill, things will change- so I find myself back to the mountain of information again this time looking up a toddlers transition to a big bed, or a baby who is rolling over for the first time. But I am thankful to have access to this support and information, I know those mothers before us ( before the internet!) did not have such easy access too!

I highly recommend the book, which I have posted below for your convenience!

Halloween

With Halloween around the corner, the buzz among all the mamas is which costume will your little one rock this year!

We have already started previewing the neighborhood haunted houses, there is a famous one near my mom’s house that really does it over the top and the entire family looks forward to what they will come up with this year.

We are now a large family with 4 cousins, Jenna being the eldest and Jacob the youngest, there are 2 boys and 2 girls. Ideally, we would love to pick a creative theme and dress them the same! Realistically we are all so busy we have no idea how to make that happen.

We are going to visit the pumpkin patch this weekend, my sister in Bermuda went to visit one last weekend and sent me this adorable pic of my nephew
